Are you ready to start raising funds for your startup? Great!
To open your first fundraising round, you'll visit your Capbase Dashboard > Fundraising. Then, you'll click on Current round:
Next, you'll click on Start fundraising:
And then, you'll fill out the following parameters for your fundraising round:
-
Select round label
The first round has an "Angel" automatic name. However, subsequent rounds can be named however you wish. But in either scenario, please note that these are all unpriced rounds.
-
How much are you looking to raise?
These caps are the max (also referred to as "ceilings"). This means that your board has consented to allow you to raise this specific amount of money but not more. However, you're not required to raise that much in total (if you don't want to).For example, if you were to enter $50,000 - this will mean that your current round will allow you to raise up to $50,000, but you're not required to and can raise only $50,000. (if you choose).
-
Minimum valuation cap in fundraising
The minimum valuation cap is neither a max nor a min. You can raise at that level (or not) as it suits yourself or your investors' needs on a case-by-case basis. By setting a minimum valuation cap, and an amount to raise, you are creating a target ownership percentage for your future investors. You can modify this later.
-
When do you want to finish raising funds?
You can select the duration of your fundraising round to be 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, or 180 days.
-
Select: Raise using SAFEs and/or Raise using Convertible Notes
You can choose to raise funds using either only SAFEs, only Convertible Notes, or both.
Once you click on Next, a board consent to raise funds will be generated to reflect these parameters. This board consent will need to be signed by all members of the board of directors. You will find this document in your Document Room > Timeline view > Event: Started an Angel fundraising round.
Once this document is signed, you'll be able to start adding investors to your fundraising round. Learn how to do this in this article.
We've also created a video tutorial of this process.
